Gail
McDermid
PCAM, CMCA, Senior Community Manager
I have been employed by Executive
Property Management (EPM) since September, 1988. Leonard
and Janice Barber, President and Vice President of EPM,
take active roles in overseeing the management of their
communities. They have been instrumental in assisting me
throughout the years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working
at Westgate Square for the past 24 years. I can't
believe I have been at Westgate for 24 years, it really
seems like yesterday when I started. Managing has been
such a challenge to me. Everyday is different so my job
is very diversified and interesting. I consider Westgate
my "second home".
I have taken many courses in
property management over the years and completed a case
study where I earned the designation of Professional
Community Association Manager (PCAM) in 1996. I am proud
to have achieved this designation since only
approximately 500 managers throughout the country hold
the PCAM designation. I have also earned my Certified
Manager of Associations designation as well.
I am on site Mondays, Wednesdays
and Fridays, meeting with contractors, organizing the
maintenance work and working with our homeowners. I have
the pleasure of working with Kathy Lucy, EPM District
Property Manager, who assists me on Tuesdays and
Thursdays to manage the Association at Westgate Square.
I look forward to my continued
relationship with the Westgate Board and the beautiful
Westgate Square community.
Kathy Lucy
District Manager
I have been working at Executive
Property Management since November 2000.
Prior to that, I was an assistant to
the controller of an Israeli company for 16 years.
When I had a career change, I decided to choose a
field that I thought I would be best suited for
and property management was my choice. I had
served on the Board of Trustees in the community
where I lived for many years. I enjoyed the
diversity of the field of managing a condominium
community. My Association was managed by Executive
Property Management and I came to EPM knowing the
company and wanting to be part of it. I knew I
would be working with contractors, board member
and most importantly, the homeowners. I consider
myself a "people person" which is really a
requirement of the job.
I initially assisted in the
accounting department of EPM due to my extensive
accounting background. After 6 months, I was given
the responsibility of managing two properties and
to assist at Westgate Square. It's the best of two
worlds. I am on site at Westgate Square on
Tuesday's and Thursdays' and enjoy it very much.
Gail McDermid, Senior Community Manger has been a
great mentor to me. I manage my other communities
from the corporate headquarters locate in North
Brunswick. This too has its benefits since I have
the benefit of the experienced staff at EPM to
answer any question or situations which may arise
that are new to me. I manage a condominium
community in South Brunswick with 290 units. The
other community I manage is a Homeowners
Association in Bedminster with 108 units. Each
community comes with its own challenges. If you
consider the 396 units at Westgate Square, I am
sure you will agree that I am kept very busy.
My favorite part of the job is having
the ability to learn something new all the time.
It is challenging to work with engineers to
brain-storm on the best way to tackle a problem or
work with the Boards who brings so much to their
communities.
This is an ever-changing job. Each
season bring new responsibilities. I have the
continued guidance from Gail McDermid at Westgate
Square and the supportive EPM staff and I look
forward to many more rewarding years at EPM.
